The first day after moving to Helsingoer, Denmark, I went to an evening organ concert at the Roskilde Cathedral. This required catching one train that goes from Roskilde to Copenhagen and then catching the Oeresund train from Copenhagen back to Helsingoer.
The concert started at eight and ended at nine pm. With picture taking, it was 9:30 pm or so before I caught the train at Roskilde to Copenhagen. I was anticipating a bit of a delay in Copenhagen to go up to look at the train schedule, navigate to the correct track, and then wait for and catch my return ride back to Helsingoer. (That morning, not knowing the area and realizing I'd have to catch a taxi back to the hotel in the dark, I asked the hotel receptionist if the area was safe at 10-11 pm. She seemed somewhat amused and assured me it should be fine as long as I avoided strolling around dark alleys at 3-4 am in the morning.)
As I stepped off the train from Roskilde onto the track. I saw a train just a few feet directly in front of me. When my eyes focused, I realized it was the train I needed. So, since I didn't buy a ticket, I just stepped immediately on board and sat down. No hurry, no fuss, no cost.
My net transfer time was probably 5 minutes; so, it was almost as fast as a direct train!
