Sit, Sit, Sittin' On Satan's Throne
On Tuesday 13 November, we left Efes/Kusadasi and saw the acropolis of Pergamum, perched high on a hill. There is a steep theater built into the hillside (second and fourth photos) and originally there was a temple to Zeus where the two trees are in the second picture. With the permission of the Sultan, German archeologists removed it and now it is reconstructed in Berlin. This prominent pagan temple is thought to be what the Bible refers to as Satan's seat or throne in Revelation 2:13.
Since we were obviously in his neighborhood, I asked our guide if we could visit Satan's house as well, but was told that Mr. Satan was on holiday at the time.
Here are some more pictures of Pergamum.
