After Mary's shrine, we went to the Roman city of Ephesus, which is best known for the missive St. Paul wrote to its inhabitants the Ephesians.
Ephesus has an intact theater (first photo) and an impressive library (second photo).
In modern times, the name has morphed to Efes. Efes these days is best known for the Turkish pilsner named in its honor (bottom picture).
